So, 19 games played and we sit 3rd in the table with our best points tally since the legendary 60-61 season. Not too shabby is it and a position surely no-one would have foreseen after 2 games?
So how have the players fared that have got us into this position? Well here's my half term report so far for those that have featured enough to merit a mark: |

So, a draw up at the Toon. In days gone by, one would have taken a draw before the event, but on the back of four consecutive wins, it feels a lot more like two points dropped than one gained. In addition, their second goal leaves us in a position whereby even our game in hand only now draws us level with Newcastle, it does not give us fourth in its own right. Overall then a disappointing outcome.

As a mate on Twitter wrote: “I’m more scared of Wolves than Milan. Why? I’m a Spurs fan.” And it doesn’t get any more succinct than that. It seems that for as long as I can remember, I have seen Tottenham take the game to the Goliath, only to be dry-bummed by David a week later. To cover my tracks, there could be innumerable stats why I’m talking nonsense and I am certain there must be hoards of supporters for many different clubs with the same paranoia but I have always felt this to be the Spurs way. |

Apps: 12 Goals: 2 Highlight: Getting us back into the tie away at Young Boys Lowlight: Being continually axed to make way for other returning CB's Average We Are Tottenham Match Rating: 6.00/10
It has been a frustrating season so far from Seb. He was always going to be a 'stand-in' centre half for us this term which is principally how he was used last season - and to very good effect I might add. But after the injury to Michael Dawson while on England duty and the continued absence of King he would have been well within his rights to expect an extended run in the side. This has not been the case. I felt he had a bit of a shaky start to the season and this may have been the reason Harry was reluctant to hand him more starts, but of late he has been excellent when deputising, either when starting or once introduced as a sub to cover the inevitable injury/sending off at centre back.
Quick, strong and good in the air, Harry still prefers to start with two of Dawson, Kaboul and Gallas of late and once King and Woodgate return there is a danger Seb could be 6th choice, which for me would be incredibly harsh. Strangely Redknapp always sings his praises in any post match interview so it must be a case of Bassong needing to knuckle down, stick at it and grab any opportunities that come his way.
Keep up the good work - we don't want to see you off in the summer as a result of limited opportunities in the starting XI.

Apps: 13 Goals: 0 Highlight: Stoke away - First game in ages and instrumental in an impressive win Lowlight: Not featuring against Bolton and Sunderland Average We Are Tottenham Match Rating: 6.58/10
For a guy that still divides the terraces, and indeed my opinion of him has swung back and forth, 2010-11 has been a good season so far for JJ. Often a scapegoat for many of the braindead meatheads at the Lane, Jenas has shrugged off his inconsistent tag to deliver plenty of good performances this term. Excellent in the win at Stoke and arguably MOM in the 4-2 hammering of Blackburn, the athletic midfielder has proved a reliable stand in for Hudd/Modric - so much so that Harry usually opts for him in the middle of the park for most 'big' games - notably in this season's CL.
Missed out strangely at Bolton and at home to Sunderland and the midfield lacked real purpose as a result. Will be hoping for an extended run now that Hudd will be missing for 3 months. Just needs to add a goal or two and tighten up his passing before the Jenas haters start clearing their throats again for more unfounded vitriol.
