When HR came to Spurs, a lot of people questioned could he take us to the next level? Was he a small time manager, used to dealing with ONE problem with smaller clubs: Focus on survival in the Prem and anything else cup wise is a bonus.
Harry seems to be failing miserably juggling the prospect of 4 competitions.

Embarrassed by Young Boys in his first ever CL management game. Embarrassed by minnows home and away in the Prem. As for the FA cup, time will tell...But lets hope a day before the game he does not tell the press (and opposing manager) that he will be fielding a team loaded with fringe players. I can picture Wenger licking his snake lips at the prospect of picking his team in the league cup. (Cards closers to your chest next time please Arry') Starting out, HR had no pressure and limited expectations after the Ramos debacle. Harry did well, since he only had to focus on the league. Next season had no Europe, so again the league was the main focus. He did triffic. However I'm afraid HR is showing he may only have the capacity to focus in one direction. And that direction this season looks to be Champions league. If there was no CL football this season (pure speculation) I think we would be top 4 in the league. And I think the people who labeled him small time may have a point. He is looking out of his depth spinning so many plates. He's not used to a big squad to keep fit/sharp. He's not used to so many internationals and divas in the team, and he's not used to the financial resources we have and the best way to use them. I don't think Harry has the guile to be a special one. He'd be a bloody wonderful England manager. And I think he knows it. |
