Barclays Premier League Match Day 22 White Hart Lane 16th January 2010 1500pm kick off. Some may argue that the London outfit has half an eye on the upcoming return fixture against Liverpool, that therefore they may take Hull City lightly, and a repeat of the Wolves/Stoke results could be on the cards. There is even a suspicion (pardon the pun) that Harry's recent visit to Bishopsgate Nick will cast a shadow over preparations and affect the outcome. On the other hand, the recent League and Cup wins put Spurs in good form while Hull have a run of fifteen away fixtures behind them without a win or clean sheet. So, no excuses then chaps, right...?
Spurs' list of long-term absentees remains at just Cudicini and Woodgate while both King and Hutton are more recent attenders to the treatment room. Other injured players that are variously continuing ther recoveries are Lennon, Assou-Ekotto and Pavlyuchenko. The expected starting XI is therefore: Gomes; Bale, Bassong, Dawson, Corluka; Modric, Palacios,, Huddlestone, Kranjcar; Defoe and Crouch. The Modric/Kranjcar conundrum could see both players visiting either flank today, otherwise it should be business as usual. Hull will bring an almost completely fit squad to White Hart Lane, with just Jimmy Bullard and Ian Ashbee missing out for long-term injuries. All the pre-match punditry points to Spurs as clear winners, as it was at the KC earlier in the season. However, we never make things easy for ourselves...
