Wilson Palacios has found opportunities limited since returning from World Cup duty with Honduras, mostly due to the form of Tom Huddlestone but also a continuation of the drop-off in form he himself suffered toward the end of last year. This is borne out by his six substitute appearences, which must be disappointing for a player whose name was 'first on the team sheet' in the 08/09 campaign wherein his performances are credited as saving the club from relegation to the Championship.
It is likely that Wilson is still feeling some fatigue from his World Cup endeavours and it was rumoured that he continues to feel emotionally below par since the tragic news of his brother. Wilson should take heart however that he has registered the best passing completion rate of any midfleider bar David Bentley at 85.7% for his 223 passes attempted - highly commendable for a player most noted for his 'tough' presence in the centre of the park.
Still a long way to travel this season and Wilson certainly has the temperament to improve to the standard both we and he have come to expect, and in recent games has demonstrated exactly that.
