An up and down first half of the season for Peter Crouch who continues to flatter to deceive. Interspersed amongst the goals are performances which indicate he isnt of the required standard.

Goals against Inter Milan and Young Boys as well as Werder Bremen, show him as a player who seems to be more useful in European matches than in the bread and butter of the Premier League, where games seem to pass him by. His touch and awareness go from the sublime to the ridiculous and he isnt a player that you would fancy to net in a one on one situation. Having said that, he isnt helped by the inclination Spurs have to 'go long' when he is on the pitch which doesnt play to his strengths at all.

Two major positives that Crouchy has shown are firstly, his defensive ability. For a striker, he does know how to defend and there has been more than one occasion this season where he has helped more defensively than he has in attacking situations (see Villa away for a prime example.) Secondly, and more importantly, he has shown himself to be a highly effective foil for Rafael van der Vaart and has been involved in most of the Dutchman's many memorable goals.

Grade: C As many positives as negatives this season. Will always be a frustrating yet willing player.
