Do we dare to dream? Why I think Spurs can win the league!

I'd like to blame my feelings on euphoria after an utterly dominant win. Or maybe on giddyness after a first clean sheet in 10 weeks. Or even on the fact that Adebayor notched his first goals since September after a string of tireless and selfless performances. But no, the reason I am on cloud nine is because I think this Tottenham team could win the league. There, I said it.

Ok, so we have the bllionaires of the Etihad to contend with and there are signs that they may not be caught and may be out of sight by Easter, but they have some tough games coming up including Liverpool and a wounded Chelsea. Whilst they may yet go unbeaten and never have to worry about character and experience, it will be interesting to see how hey react if they do lose a game and there is a chance that another of their egos could go into meltdown, after all Balotelli hasn't had a strop for a few weeks. If Silva or Yaya Toure gets an injury tha keeps them out for any length of time, then we'll see just how strong this new breed of invincibles are.

Spurs could be on the coat tails of City at the end of January when we face off in Manchester. Our upcoming run of games includes WBA, Bolton, Stoke, Norwich, Sunderland,  Swansea, Nowich, Wolves, Wigan and tough test against Chelsea and I think all of us would be disappointed if we lost any of those. Come January it could be very very tight at the top.

The reason I am feeling so confident is that over the last few weeks we have shown that we can win in all sorts of ways. Hammer teams out of sight like Liverpool. Scrap with teams and earn the right to win like at Molineaux. Play badly and still win in the face of an onslaught as we did at Craven Cottage and then tonight, play with poise, control, authority and not move out of 2nd gear whilst not giving Villa a sniff. Our team has it all. An experienced spine, two authorative centre halves, central  idfielders that boss the game through workrate and guile, wingers with pace, power and importantly a final ball, a striker whose movement and skill worries defenders all game and in Rafa vander Vaart we have a wildcard who can win a game with a moment of genius. Throw into that mix some very able deputies in Gallas, Defoe, Sandro, Huddlestone and Dawson as well a couple of very good full backs and you can see why Spurs are on the run that we are.

There will be a couple of hiccups along the way but I cant imagine players like Friedel, King and Parker allowing the rest of the squad to feel sorry for themselves for long.

Ledley has said in the press this weekend and if it is good enough for the King its good enough for me. And whether you think I am right or totally wrong, I am sure you will join me in hoping my prophecy comes true by next May.If the whole club, fans, players, manager and owner carry forward the belief and confidence that is coursing the veins of the club right now, then I believe anything is possible.
